Treatment Overview
Ultherapy Prime® is a non-invasive treatment that combines microfocused ultrasound energy with real-time ultrasound imaging. It is designed to lift the brow and improve the appearance of lax tissue on the neck and under the chin, as well as lines and wrinkles on the décolleté.
Real-time imaging allows the practitioner to visualize dermal and subdermal tissue before delivering energy at selected depths. The focused ultrasound energy creates controlled treatment points beneath the skin’s surface, supporting the body’s collagen remodelling response and producing gradual lifting and firming over time.
Ultherapy Prime® is the updated Ultherapy platform, with enhanced visualization, system performance and treatment efficiency. It is not simply a lower-cost version intended only for small treatment areas.
At our Richmond clinic, a trained practitioner reviews your skin laxity, anatomy, medical history, previous fillers or implants and treatment goals before recommending an individualized treatment plan. Ultherapy Prime® is not a substitute for a surgical facelift, and individual outcomes vary.

What to Expect

Downtime | Minimal. Many patients return to their regular activities after treatment, although temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, tingling or altered sensation may occur. |
Discomfort | Treatment may produce brief sensations of heat, tingling or tenderness as individual ultrasound lines are delivered. Discomfort varies by treatment area and patient. Comfort-management options should be discussed during consultation. |

How it Works
Ultherapy Prime® integrates ultrasound imaging with focused ultrasound treatment. Imaging allows the practitioner to visualize the skin and subdermal tissue, confirm appropriate contact and select suitable treatment depths.
Focused ultrasound energy is then delivered beneath the skin’s surface in controlled treatment points. This initiates a healing and collagen-remodelling response without making surgical incisions or removing the surface layer of the skin.
The resulting change develops gradually rather than immediately. Treatment depth, pattern and number of lines are selected according to the treatment area, tissue anatomy and individualized treatment plan.

WHAT AREAS CAN ULTHERAPY PRIME® TREAT?
Ultherapy Prime® may be used to lift the brow and improve the appearance of lax tissue on the neck and under the chin. It may also improve lines and wrinkles on the décolleté. Suitability and treatment area must be determined through an individual assessment.
Ultrasound energy should not be delivered over the eyes, eyelids or within the orbital rim. Therefore, the treatment should not be described as an eyelid treatment.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ULTHERAPY PRIME® AND LEGACY ULTHERAPY®?
Ultherapy Prime® uses the established Ultherapy microfocused ultrasound technology with an updated platform, enhanced real-time visualization and improved system efficiency. It is not limited to smaller treatment areas, and it does not have a separate mechanism from legacy Ultherapy.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Results develop gradually. Some patients notice lifting or firming during the first two to three months, with changes potentially continuing for up to six months. Individual outcomes vary.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Ultherapy Prime® is often performed as a single treatment. Whether and when another treatment is appropriate depends on your skin laxity, response, goals and the natural ageing process.
DOES ULTHERAPY PRIME® HURT, AND IS THERE DOWNTIME?
You may experience heat, tingling, tenderness or brief discomfort while ultrasound energy is delivered. Many patients resume normal activities after treatment, but temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or altered sensation can occur. It is therefore more accurate to describe the downtime as minimal rather than none.
WHO SHOULD NOT RECEIVE ULTHERAPY PRIME®?
The treatment is contraindicated over open wounds, lesions, severe or cystic acne, active electrical implants or metallic implants in the treatment area. Treatment is not recommended directly over dermal fillers, mechanical implants, breast implants or existing keloids.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ULTHERAPY PRIME® AND THERMAGE®?
Ultherapy Prime® uses focused ultrasound energy with real-time imaging to target selected tissue depths. Thermage® uses radiofrequency energy to heat tissue and support collagen remodelling. The appropriate option depends on the treatment area, degree of laxity, medical history and desired outcome; neither treatment is automatically better for every patient.
